A Bit About Me
Sarah Band creates glass sculptures inspired by science, anatomy, and the macabre. Her science interest came from her upbringing, being raised in California’s Silicon Valley by a family of physicists. She graduated from San Francisco State with a BFA in Sculpture in 2011. She is most known for her copper and glass sculpture series, which depicts skeletons of animals that are endangered. She has had solo exhibitions at the Randolph Art Guild, The Works Museum, and Public Glass. She is a recent NC Artist Support Grant recipient and featured in The Art of State, Celebrating the Visual Art of North Carolina by Liza Roberts. She was most recently the Artistic Director at The Olio, in Winston Salem, before practicing her artwork full-time.
